Christopher is one of those lucky people who just love what they do. Wonderfully friendly and ultra-efficient, his pride and joy are his two delightful self-catering houses…..

…. Pacing around in his crocs, Christopher led me through breezy open-plan layouts, the sun pouring in across the wooden decking. I felt immediately at home and felt the urge to kick off my shoes and start moving my things in. Everything is white and fresh with blue bedding, deep creamy sofas and white-painted panelling. Tranquility Base feels the biggest with its huge white and granite kitchen, antique dining table and grandfather clock. It also houses Christopher’s glass bottle collection, some of which he found himself on nearby beaches – my favourites are the decorated wooden shoes from the Greyton Arts Festival. Each house has its own swimming pool, a real bonus in summer. Manor Cottage is the really homely one, as this house is a little smaller than Tranquillity Base, but both houses sleep 8 people in 4 bedrooms. They both have lots of outside decking and individual gas or charcoal braai facilities. Christopher thinks of everything – an optional gate at the pool for kids, night lighting along the paths, free wireless internet and even a computer in case you forget your own. He also knows about a leafy glade with a waterfall only 3km away, so don’t forget to ask him or he might just keep it to himself!
